Who We Are

Black Mountain Pickleball is an informal group, not a membership-based club, that exists to promote Pickleball in the Town of Black Mountain and the greater Swannanoa Valley.  Benefits include a sense of community, organized play, and much more.

Mission Statement

Black Mountain Pickleball promotes Pickleball in Black Mountain and to the broader Swannanoa Valley plus to anyone planning a visit to the area. The group provides activity for all ages and skill levels in a diverse, friendly, inviting, and inclusive environment.

Vision Statement

Black Mountain Pickleball strives to provide the highest quality environment for the sport of Pickleball.  This will be achieved through new, dedicated facilities for play, and providing instruction for all levels of players, while maintaining a diverse, inviting, and highly social environment recognized by residents and visitors alike.

Our Values

Our core values are to provide a social activity in a diverse, friendly, inclusive, and welcoming environment for a sport that has a low barrier to entry in terms of cost and skill. We are also working to improve and expand our public Pickleball courts in the Town and Valley plus assist in developing the quality and skill levels of all our players.

Requirements for Playing

Requirements for Playing are minimal.

  • Sign Up
    Fill out and sign the information form here. Bring it with you the first time you come to play.  If you do not have the means to print the form, we will provide a copy for you to complete on your first visit to the courts.
  • Payment
    $2 is requested per session, per player.
  • Meet with the host
    When you show up at the courts for your first time, please ask to meet the host in order to receive an orientation and instructions on setting up and taking down nets as well as packing the lockbox.
  • Beginners
    If you’ve never played Pickleball, please start on the Beginner Court.
  • Guests
    If you bring a guest to play, be sure to play the first game together.

We will play outside weather permitting these days.
If the weather does not permit outdoor play, we will play indoors at Cragmont Assembly.
Bad weather is below 40, raining, or snowing.

Volunteers are an integral component to the smooth running of Black Mountain Pickleball.  Once you’ve completed the information form, you will begin receiving our Newsletter and emails.  Be sure to look for volunteer opportunities from Libba Fairleigh and respond accordingly.
